Who am I? That question plagues me. It's answer, as for all of us, is fluid, changing as events make their mark on us. Yielding to our thoughts, our emotions. Changing in a flash, because we saw something unbelievable on TV. I am not the same person I was, marching into kindergarten armed against my expanding world with all that my parents could wash over me. I am not the same person I was, taking my first baby home from the hospital, full of happy hopes for his future. As my life continues, I respond to it. I change.
But some core remains, built up and patched up, surviving the rush and wear of life. I believe that communication is the most important of human experiences. It is that tool we use to connect to and with others. Sometimes it takes a visual component. Sometimes just a verbal exchange. From the time man imprinted his hand on cave walls, we have all been looking for connection, for answers. Music, art, cinema, dance, and writing are natural extensions of this desire. We buy/sell/trade, execute war/then peace, expand our human knowledge because of our communication skills and resulting connections.
In reference to this website, I have looked to expand my knowledge of connections primarily through language arts. I have a BA in English, BA in Digital Technology and Culture from Washington State University. I also received a Certificate in Professional Writing.
I have created websites, content and artwork for websites. I have written and published training manuals, short stories, opinion and poetry. I have edited a few literary journals and a few offerings by nonprofessionals working on that dream that finally came off of the back burner.
Humans are a race of story tellers--all of us having a story or two to tell. I am particularly fond of the storytelling in movies, which you will notice from my posts. But in the coming days I will comment on books, politics--anything that catches my interest. I hope that you will let me know if you share any of the same views...or not.
Just trying to figure it out...
